Like Greenberg this is some mainstream mumblecore. This means it will be great despite the cast and the fact that it is being publicised as a generic comedy.
Going the Distance
A romantic comedy about a long distance relationship, which as we all know can never work. Not a fan of Justin Long.
Sometimes it feels like I’m the only “film person” who doesn’t want to take this silent German epic home with them to meet their mother. It actually made me fall asleep. The poster can be seen in student bedrooms everywhere!
Resident Evil: Afterlife
Erm… I guess it’s the same sort of stuff again. Not seen the others. Guns! Zombies!
The big old mess of a comedy we are hesitant to recommend. I will now be patronising and suggest it as a date movie; romance for the ladies and Arterton for the lads.
Alamar (limited release)
“Before their inevitable farewell, a young man of Mayan roots and Natan, his half Italian son, embark on an epic journey into the open sea.” It’s only 73 minutes long!
Dabangg (limited release)
A hindi action film. Songs and guns!
Kandahar Break (limited release)
Worth watching on a rainy afternoon when you’re doing something else. What it would look like if Eastenders went further east.
My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done (limited release)
“Inspired by a true crime, a man begins to experience mystifying events that lead him to slay his mother with a sword.” Eh? It had Defoe and Sevigny so I’m in.
The Runaways (limited release)
Young girls in the past having a sing song.
