Want to see a clip from upcoming indie flick Hesher starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Natalie Portman, both sporting looks that should be unattractive but aren’t? Well check it out below.

At the moment Hesher doesn’t seem to have any kind of release details at all which is a real shame as any time two of my favourite actors headline a film together I oddly want to see it.

As if Dustin Hoffman wasn’t enough, American TV is getting even more critically acclaimed acting folk to give up lots of movie-making time.

Laura Linney is taking on the lead role in The Big C on Showtime starting next month. She plays a wife and mother who finds out she has cancer and unravels in a funny way. It’s like Breaking Bad less crystal meth and sadness.

But that’s not all, The Big C also has Oliver Platt and Gabourey Sidibe amongst it’s cast and as of yesterday they got…. Liam Neeson!

American acotars are starting to see TV as some British actors do, just another medium but not necessarily a lesser one. Have a look at the trailer if you’ve got a few minutes, it doesn’t look terrible:

With great TV comes great memorabilia; endless figurines, T-shirts and posters. Now Breaking Bad has topped them all with a distinctive line of blue methamphetamine sold in limited numbers only in Kansas City.

Not exactly an official product but more a crystal meth cooker giving a little nod to Breaking Bad. Unless they tried the alternate recipe we all learnt from the show and are now using it full time. Either way I’m really happy that Breaking Bad has got a dedicated audience, if a little unhappy that the dedication goes as far as selling harmful drugs.

Next up: Weeds branded cannabis and Hung inspired male prostitutes. Can’t wait.

A brief post because I’m feeling a bit spammy today. It turns out that Barack Obama has a great taste in TV and watches one of the same shows as me.

Over at FOX News Mad Men creator Matt Weiner has revealed that he received a letter from Obama saying how much he enjoyed season 3. I bet he loved the bit with the lawn mower.

Oi Cameron! When are you going to write to Breaking Bad? David probably prefers Vampire Diaries.

TV is definitely in vogue right now as Dustin Hoffman is set to film a new series for HBO. For realsies.

He will star in Luck, a series set in the world of horse riding that was co-created by David Milch of Deadwood fame and John from Cincinnati shame. With all this talent in a show I bet it didn’t take long for HBO to decide this was a goer.

With Luck, Boardwalk Empire and I’m With the Band coming to HBO now is the time to renew your subscription. No other channel can boast Hoffman, Buscemi and Deschanel.

I’ll be brief. There is a prequel comic for Inception that you can read online and won’t spoil the film for you.

Is it the weekend yet?

Remember The Runaways starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning? Thank God because this is completely different.

Bryan K. Vaughan wrote a brilliant Marvel comic about a group of kids who discover their parents are supervillains, this is Runaways. And with all the greatest works it sounds more stupid than it is as this is no teen comedy about wacky hijinx, Sky High this is not. The comics have been rumoured to be heading for the big screen for a while and now it looks like they’re finally filming in early 2011.

This is exciting and terrifying news. Let’s hope they don’t ruin it!

The Emmy nominations were released last week and I’ve spent the weekend, or at least some of last night, trawling through to see which ones excite me and skimming past the various editing awards. Here are my personal highlights from the nominations:

All three of these men have lead brilliantly written shows, and each has had to show their character developing, whether than be getting stronger or in most cases slowly unravelling. Good stuff.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie

The Prisoner Ian McKellen as Two

Ian McKellan was brilliant in a miniseries that most of the time made less sense than Lost.

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series

Nurse Jackie Edie Falco as Jackie Peyton

Parks And Recreation Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope

United States Of Tara Toni Collette as Tara Gregson

All three of these shows could do with some love and hinge on the performances of their leading ladies. Toni Collette probably deserves to win for seamlessly playing so many different characters through the multiple personalities.

Can we first of all take a moment to appreciate the title of this post, I have never been so proud.

In other news Empire has had a lot of Scott Pilgrim exclusivity of late thanks to them being all successful and popular. I prefer to call them sell-outs but that’s just petty jealousy. The first of these exclusives is that they will be screening Scott Pilgrim as part of Movie-Con III on August 15th almost two weeks before the film’s release.

This confused me as I was pretty sure that the film was coming out on the 13th so this was hardly an exclusive and IMDb agreed with me. I went direct to the source and asked Edgar Wright on his site.

Shockingly Scott Pilgrim won’t be hitting UK screens until 25th August, a Wednesday no less! Cruelty, sheer cruelty.

If we can move on for a second Empire have also got the first look at the international poster which I have taken and put in this post. It’s like an anti-scoop!

M. Night Shyamalan was a good filmmaker once upon a time and has made up to two genuinely good films, yes I liked Unbreakable. Recently it has all been downhill struggling in glorious fashion to make good films as his career should be flourishing. The Last Airbender is no exception and it has been completely decimated by critics. Let’s see what the tomatometer has to say:

Ouch. Shyamalan must be devastated right? Well when Vulture spoke to him about the review he has the following to say:

“Are you saying that in general they didn’t dig it?”

A slight understatement perhaps. This could explain why he keeps making bad films; he just has no idea how bad they really are. It’s kind of sweet really.

I’m hesitant to mention this as it’s not confirmed yet and on Monday I’ll only have to retract it and announce Andrew Garfield in the role. Anyway rumour is that Meryl Streep could be playing Margaret Thatcher in a biopic titled The Iron Lady with Jim Broadbent as her husband.

It has been a while since I’ve seen Streep do some proper acting and she is rather good. The fact that Mamma Mia!‘s director Phyllida Lloyd is involved is a little troubling though. And not just because I can’t work out how to say her name.

It seems we and the rest of the internet got a bit ahead of ourselves when declaring Josh Hutcherson as the new Spiderman, because he isn’t. Phew.

Instead we have the 27 year old Andrew Garfield who can actually act. Hurray! You may remember him from two bad episodes of Doctor Who set in New York and in Red Riding where everyone was a proper good actor.

I have regained my confidence in Marc Webb and am a bit excited about the film. It’s amazing how different the casting of two people I don’t really remember can have on me but I’m pretty sure this is a better choice.

Uhoh, before they could even reach terrifying amounts of angst Twilight fans have been getting a bit too frightened in American cinemas. Apparently the trailer for Paranormal Activity 2 which is shown with the film is just too frightening to be shown with the film and people are complaining. It has even been pulled from cinemas in Texas.

I’ll admit the trailer is scary but to go see a film about vampires and werewolves and then complain when you get scared? Grow up.

Seeings as our first ever post was all about the Spiderman reboot it’s only right we cover the potential casting of the ultra-hormonal lead. Ladies and gentlemen we give you Josh Hutcherson in a totally unconfirmed way.

Films he’s been in that I’ve seen include the not as dissapointing as expected Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant and the utterly devastating Bridge to Terabithia. Seriously, watch Terabithia and try not to cry.

He’s not my first choice but then I’m not a major fan of any 17 year old actors so can’t really offer any alternatives. While previously we all knew the reboot would be set during high school it is only now that it hits home just how youth targeted this film could be. Could be. Hutcherson might not even get the part… This isn’t news!
