Stop what you’re doing and buy a ticket to one of three Singin’ in the Rain screenings happening across England this month; in Greenwich, Birmingham, and York.
Why do this? Because Singin’ in the Rain is an amazing film filled with laughs, songs, and dance routines worthy of recreating in a rain storm with less aplomb and a greater risk of a cold.
The other reason to buy a ticket is that you will not only be enjoying a true piece of cinema history on the big screen but will be supporting HOPE International Development Agency (UK) as they raise money for water projects in Ethiopia. HOPE is working with villagers in remote communities to provide access to clean water but need to raise funds to cover materials and transportation.

There are many things in life which can be made all the more pleasurable simply by being moved outside. Film is no exception to this rule.
Live by the Lake is a series of summer concerts performed at Kenwood House in North West London across six days from August 23rd-25th and August 30th-September 1st. This is a great excuse to grab a picnic and enjoy live music in an outdoor setting. The full line-up is below:
August 23rd: SUEDE and special guests BRITISH SEA POWER August 24th: ROYAL CHORAL SOCIETY and the ROYAL PHILHARMONIC CONCERT ORCHESTRA August 25th: KEANE and special guest LAURA MVULA August 30th: ‘SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN’ – film screening, score performed by the ROYAL PHILHARMONIC CONCERT ORCHESTRA August 31st: ANA MARIA MARTINEZ and the ENGLISH NATIONAL OPERA ORCHESTRA September 1st: MICHAEL BALL and friends sing GERSHWIN
No surprise the event that really stick out for us is the screening of Singin’ in the Rain on 30th August. Not only is this a great film that was surely a major inspiration for The Artist but the score will be performed live by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. And let’s not forget that you can watch all this while eating a picnic. Picnics and films are made to go together.
